New nesting boxes were added into the White-crowned pigeon exhibit to encourage breeding of the White-crowned pigeons. A chick was hatched on May 2nd 2006 and hopefully this is only the beginning.

The White-crowned pigeon is very much a West Indian pigeon and is very common here in the Bahamas. They are currently labelled as a threatened species as their numbers have dropped rapidily in the last 30yrs due to continuous habitat loss and hunting.
